Care Guide
How to care for your TWG garments
Most of our dresses, tops, skirts and trousers are made from woven fabrics — cotton, viscose, linen, satin and rayon. They share the same simple routine to keep colour and shape season after season.
Cold hand wash, separately
Hand wash in cold water with a gentle, delicate detergent. Wash colours separately, especially for the first few washes.
Dry flat in the shade
Lay flat to dry out of direct sun. Natural and viscose fibres can stretch or fade if hung wet or dried in harsh light.
Cool iron or steam
Press with a cool iron under a cloth, or use cool steam to lift creases. Hanging in a steamy bathroom works in a pinch.
Dry clean when in doubt
Most TWG woven styles are dry-clean friendly — a good option for structured or lined pieces.
Do
- Hand wash cold
- Wash colours separately
- Dry flat in the shade
- Reshape gently while damp
Don't
- Tumble dry
- Bleach
- Wring or twist the fabric
- Spray perfume or alcohol directly onto it
Find your exact details
Every style is a little different. Your precise fibre composition and wash symbols are on the sewn-in care label and listed under Product Care on each product page.
Can I machine wash my TWG dress?
We recommend a cold hand wash to protect colour and shape. If you do machine wash, place it in a delicate bag and use the coolest, gentlest cycle.
Why dry flat instead of hanging?
Cotton and viscose fibres stretch when wet, so hanging can pull a garment out of shape. Drying flat keeps the original cut.
How do I get creases out without an iron?
Hang the piece in a steamy bathroom, or use cool steam. A cool iron under a cloth also works well.
Viscose — treat it like silk
Our viscose is a soft natural fabric and just as delicate as silk. Give it a light steam on arrival to lift any transit creases, keep it away from rough or sharp surfaces (it can pull), and dry clean only.
Linen — slubs and all
Linen’s natural slubs are part of its character, not flaws. Steam on arrival; 100% linen can be pressed under low heat. Dry clean for the best result, or hand wash cold (see below).
How do I hand wash linen?
Submerge the garment in cool water with a gentle detergent and soak for about 5 minutes. Rinse in cool water, then press the water out between your hands or a cloth — don’t wring or twist. Lay flat in the shade to dry.
Does washing against the care label affect returns?
Yes — pieces washed against the sewn-in care label aren’t covered by returns, so always follow the label.
